Divorce

My girlfriend plans to divorce her husband of 8 years. Is there an

amount of years of being married that would be more beneficial to her

to file for divorce?

Re: Divorce

What, she is going to cheat on her husband a while longer to run up the alimony?

Re: Divorce

In California, if you are married for less than 5 years you can file for a summary dissolution. There is no extra benefit to being married longer if they are already separated regardless if the separation is legal or de facto. Alimony may be an issue, but more facts are needed.

I hope this helps.
