Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hi!

After the divorce, I had revived a small portion of child support from my ex husband because he states he couldnt afford to pay full amount. My son and I had to move to diff state 2 yrs ago due to my job relocation. I have a letter that he wrote about him acknowledging my son and I are moving to diff state. I haven't changed the visitation/ custody with the court Yet about when he can see my child such as certain date/ time of the yr. between us, we had decided That my son can visit him during school break. My problem is my ex is not willing to pay any child support since I got a job. I had to beg him to pay at least a half of the cost of my son's expense which includes education/ daycare/ air fare. What kinds of form do I need to file for getting child support thru the system instead of asking him every month and a form of changing my sons address/ time of custody for my ex? Is it possible to file those forms without getting lawyer?

Thank u ...

You need to file an Order to Show Cause to modify child support. Go to www.courtinfo.ca.gov/forms/ for copies of the forms you need to fill out. Make sure you file as soon as possible as the court only modifies support back to the date you file the motion. Good Luck.
