Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce/Child Custody

I'm getting a divorce and filing for custody. I understand that for my kind of divorce, I need to post it in the newspaper. For how long do I have to post it in the paper? How long do I have to give him to respond? And how do I prove it to the court?

Re: Divorce/Child Custody

You must obtain a court order allowing service by publication. To get the court order you will have to present a declaration as to the efforts you have made to locate him. Check with the family law clinic in your county, or an attorney.
