Legal Question in Family Law in California

I had a durable power of attorney drawn up by a law office, had it notorized, and recorded it at the county clerks office and everything perfect and legal. Wen to to the Bank of my father who is the person I have the power over and they refused to honor it ....like it was not legal. They wouldn't even talk to me ....what did I do wrong??

Your father was the one who needed to execute the power of attorney and have it notarized -- not you.

You need to ask the attorney who drew it up.

I agree with Mr. McCormick, to some extent. I would have to review the power of attorney, although Mr. Cohen does bring up a valid point. The person granting the power of attorney has to sign, not the person receiving a power of attorney. In other words, your father would have to sign, and have his signature notarized, not yours.

Another issue is whether the specific bank account was mentioned in the power of attorney.
