Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex-husband and I have remained friends. We have been divorced since 2001. I am still his beneficiary. He remarried in October.

There are several life insurance policies, his retirement through work, his IRA, a couple investment funds, savings, checking, etc. Nothing in a trust.

If I remain his beneficiary, if something happens to him will it go to me or will it go to the new wife automatically?

Also, is my signature required in order to change beneficiaries?

You need to consult with a family law attorney as soon as possible. Without additional information that is not appropriate to share on open forum, you will need to determine if you have legal interests in the assets you described that either were or were not resolved in your divorce decree. You need to get the consultation as soon as possible and make sure you bring all of your divorce documents.
