Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex-wife is telling my friends , family and the Police that i am using my work place for selling drugs. That is completely false and this is just one example . Is this Slander and what can i do to make her stop? This has been going on since our divorce 4 years ago. She is acting out in anger due to our divorce and child visitation with my 11 year old son. Thanks, Wade

Statements that you are engaging in criminal conduct are slander per se ( 'per se' means that damages are presumed). You have two options:

1) Sue her for slander (you will have to show what your damages are; that is, how much money has this cost you in the form of damaged reputation, etc.).

2) IF she has made such statements in the presence of your children, you have grounds to go to family court and obtain an order saying that she cannot talk about you in such manner when the children are present.

Good luck.
