You can file a family law paternity petition and Petition for Order to Show Cause Re Temporary Orders in the superior court in the county where she resides. They won't grant you any custody or parenting time rights until the child is born, but the family court judge may order her to give you information on where the birth is scheduled to occur. It could normally take a few months to hear such a motion, depending on the volume of the court's calendar. However, you may be able to file it on an emergency basis by showing that irreparable injury would occur to you if you are denied the information to be present at the birth. If you choose to file a lawsuit, you will need to know her address, and then file and serve it ASAP. Many counties in California have self help packets for family law on their websites. Or, you can do an internet search for California Judicial Council forms. www.courtinfo.gov may have the forms online for free. There is a filing fee to open a case, so you'll need to pay that when you file. I hope this is helpful. If you'd like a consultation, I charge $100 for an hour, and can do it by phone.
