Legal Question in Family Law in California

Fees for Child Support and Property Liens

A while ago a friend spoke with an attorney about collecting back child support. She would want to place a lien on the property the father owns as he would fight paying. The lawyer told her to seek an attorney at the county of the divorce.

We were wondering what to expect as fair payments or fees for this type of service. Would she pay a % of the funds collected or a set fee upfront? How does this typically work?

Thank you.

Has the D.A. tried to collect? There may be ethical considerations in a contingency fee agreement as it is generally not allowed in family law cases.

The DA can collect the money for free. if they wont, attorney fees would probably run about $500
