Legal Question in Family Law in California

Finalizing Divorce

My husband filed for divorce in CA on October 01, 04. The divorce was a mutual agreement and there is no dispute. On Oct 31 i moved to France and he was supposed to complete the divorce process. Now almost a year later it is still not finalized. Is there anything i can do from France?

Thank you

Re: Finalizing Divorce

If you had an attorney in Calif., write him and ask him to check on the case. If you are no longer in contact with your atty., write the clerk of the court giving the case number and ask for the status of the case. You might even be able to get a response by phone if you call, but you will need to give the case number and the name of the case. It may be that it was finalized, and you are simply unaware of it. You could also ask your husband or ex-husband if you still have contact with him.

I would recommend having an attorney appear on your behalf and complete required documents and send them to you in France for your signature. Call me directly at (619) 222-3504.
