Legal Question in Family Law in California

A friend of mine with a green card from France has been living with her boyfriend for 6 years. Being that his family cannot stand her, she would like to know if she has any rights ( boyfriend passes away) as to being able to stay in the home and for how long? He owns both a home and a business. She doesn't know if there is a will in place leaving his property to his brothers or his son. She receives mail (her bank statement) which can prove that she lives there but none of the bills are in her name. Is it true that after 7 years of living with a partner you have rights to community property and if so, will she be facing a difficult fight in the courts with his family?

Where did you get the idea that "after 7 years of living with a partner you have rights to community property"? Not in California. It won't be a difficult court fight at all, Your Friend will lose unless he specifically made a will in her favor. Since he wouldn't marry her, it's doubtful that he would have willed her anything. Like so many other stupid women, she gave years of her life and will receive nothing. In all likelihood she will need to move out of his house.
