Legal Question in Family Law in California

I would like to know this, is it possible to get guardian-ship so to speak even if the person is over 18, but the reason for this request is because the person is mental unstable, refuses to undergo any type of treatment and is currently addicted to drugs.

If they are over the age of 18 and an adult, the appropriate petition would be a conservatorship.
