Legal Question in Family Law in California

What inital outcome to expect when submitting for divorce...

Most counties I hear have some standard guidelines/typical divorce happenings.. like for example.. a women always get child custody and Men have to fight for their rightful share from basic teaser right they are given by default.

So My question is .. When I approach the family law court first time in Alameda Country, Calfornia.. Being a male.. what can I expect the out come? I am looking forward to atleast 50-50 custody of my kids and really dont care for my assets ($200+K) +. What can I ''expect'' initially when I seek a no fault divorce and just simple sharing? Yhings will turn nasty and crazy later ..but my concerns are inital part.

Thanks all in advance.

Everything you have heard is true. Women are typically awarded "joint physical custody" with the actual time share ranging from 60 to 80%. Unless you and your wife reach an agreement for a truely shared custody arrangement you will end up with a schedule where you may see your children at very specific days and times and the mother will have all of the rest of the time. School age children will sleep at mother's house on school nights and you might get a couple of hours to have dinner with them. You can only do yourself good by getting your wife to agree to work with a mediator or do a collaborative divorce (you both have lawyers but they will not represent either of you if the process breaks down and you go to court). If you do end up in court, get an experienced attorney who has a track record in custody matters in Alameda County. Start now reading up on parenting children with an ex-partner.
