Is it legal for my lawyer to fraternize with the other party in a court dispute in California?

Well that would all depend on what you mean by fraternize, now wouldn't it? Be friendly in the courthouse halls? Of course that is legal; in fact courtesy and civility is encouraged and all too often absent in our legal system. Go out on dates with them? Of course that would be a serious conflict of interest, and not permitted. Something in between? Who knows. Without specifics there is no way to answer your question.
