the length of a divorce

I am doing this report for my psychology class and it is on divorce. I was hopeing that you could help me out with some questions that I have. How long do most divorces take? and Around how much do they cost? Thank you for your time.

How long a divorce takes depends on the state as well as the people involved. In California, it takes at least 6 months. If people start fighting, though, it can take much longer. Some take years.

How much divorces cost also depends on how much the people fight. The court filing fees in CA are about $400 total. Most lawyers charge between $200-$500 per hour. If people aren't fighting and they file their own divorce, the cost is $400. If they fight for months or years, it's not unsual for a divorce to cost $5000-$350,000.
