Legal Question in Family Law in California

Lots of back child support owed and a district attorneys office that does nothin

I am owed a very large amount in back child support from my childrens father. My children are 15 and 13 years of age and my ex has put us though everything from a paternity test to wanting custody of children that he has nothing to do with. I have a court date next wek on his continoius of his contempt charges (3 charges for 5 years of non payment). The da here lets this happen. My ex still has his license, his employer is allowed to not honor the wage assignment and nothing ever happens to this man. How can I teach my children right from wrong when thier father gets away with it thought the court system. I am at my wits ends. do not tell me to hire an attorney either. I am $7,000 in the hole for that one and only got my child support lowered. Next they will want me to pay him.

Nolo Press publishes a book on dissolution of marriage. This book may contain information needed to collect child support arrearages. In regard to the DA the state of California is taking over the collection of child support. You may be able to find an attorney that will take the collection on a contingency basis. You can record a certified copy of the child support order, or order finding the amount of the arrearage with the county recorder's office. The support arrears should then become a lein on any real property he owns now or in the future, in the county in which the support order is recorded.
