Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have been married for 27 years. Have been separated for 4.5 years. Two kids, 20 and an almost 18 year old. I do not live in the household but have contributing between 1300 - 1700 a month on cells, insurance - medical, boat, rent and auto, internet, etc. I know I will have to pay him alimony. But will I have to pay back child support?

Unless there was an existing court order for child support, you have no court order that your husband could enforce and consequently, there would be no back support owed in your situation.

I agree with Ms. Kock. The term back child support is what lay people use to refer to unpaid child support from an existing order. If you never had an order in place and your children are of the age of majority, it is not going to be an issue in any divorce.
