Can I marry my current same sex partner of three yrs without dissolving a Vermont civil union to someone else 14 yrs ago?

You need to ask Vermont lawyers about this. Most likely, though, the answer is "yes." If you were registered domestic partners in CA, and then wanted to marry someone else, you would have to dissolve the domestic partnership. California will apply VT law, though, in deciding whether your marriage would be bigamous if the VT civil union is not dissolved.

I would say the answer is no. Polygamy has not been legalized yet.

In my opinion, no. California courts will recognize the civil union in Vermont. The civil union in Vermont needs to be dissolved most likely.
