Legal Question in Family Law in California

My mother served me on May 16th with grandparent visitation papers.. Our court date is monday July 11th at 8:45a

I am a single mom of 3 kids and without spilling all the facts of her abuse of one of my children her attorney contacted me today July 8th at 4:30p to get a continuance. I dont have the time to fight my mother in court. I work I go to school and I am raising 3 kids alone. Is it likely her attorneys request for a continuance will be granted? I find it irritating that because her attorney has a "conflict" we are not ready to proceed. I have already taken the day off of work. They are the moving party and intially agreed on the date!

You can ask the court to make any continuance subject to your being reimbursed for any damages.. You need to file a written opposition. The speak with an attorney as to what everyone's reports.
