Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was paying spousal support for the last 7 months but I have just been laid off and filed with the court to terminate support till I an able to pay. I have a court date on the 15th of July but the opposing counsel is asking to work with me on a revised support calculations. What does she mean? Am I supposed to pay spousal support even when I am not working? Should I engage in negotiations with her? I am also sick and my doctor ordered me not to work and gave a note to show to anyone interested. Should I negotiate with her or just wait till court date.

Thank you,
