Previous debt:

I am engaged to someone who has previous debt.Am I responsible for their debt when we marry?

You may be responsible for the debt. The law liability for separate property debts is 1st separate property of the debtor, 2nd community property, and 3rd the separate property of the other spouse.

You are not because of the marriage personally liable, but the "community estate" can be collected against, leaving you to seek reimbursement from your spouse. Maintain separate accounts, and perhaps, get a prenup.
