Pick up a copy of Nolo Press' excellent book How to Do Your Own Divorce In California, then schedule a visit to the Family Law Facilitator at your local Superior Court, and with your local office of the Dept. of Child Support Services. The book and Facilitator will help you get the divorce process underway, and the DCSS will help get a custody order and support in place.

I should also add that if your husband has resources to pay for an attorney, you do. The court will allocate attorneys fees based on need and ability to pay. If you have nothing, and he has enough income, he would probably be ordered to pay your fees.
