Legal Question in Family Law in California

How far am I responsible for the behavior of my husband ??

Hi, I am married for 4 years and I realized that my husband is out of control. Not only he contracted debts during our marriage and acted irresponsibly, but also he was driving my car without driving license. I told him that I would drive him wherever he wanted but he refused and took my car. 1 week ago he had been pulled over and the police did impound my car for 30 days wihout any chance to recover it, because my husband cannot have his driving license because of money that he owes to the State of New Jersey. I would like to know how far I am responsible for my husband and if there is any way outside divorce where I can protect myself ? Thank you.

A legal separation would provide some protection. However, you would not be able to live with him. He needs to get counseling. Unless he does get counseling you should divorce him and move on.
