Legal Question in Family Law in California

What rights do BF and I have?

My BF and I have been together for 15yrs, living together for 4. He is not exactly a believer of marriage but does want for us to have legal rights to each other. As do I. I've read that Domestic Partners must be same sex or heterosexual couples where at least one is 65 years or older. That being said, what can we do? I don't want to make him marry me, but I don't want to be out in the cold if something were to happen to him, and vice versa. No one knows us like we know us. Also, CA does not have common law marriages. Can anyone help us? We want to start a family but have to settle this first. So, for health, financial, family and sappy love reasons, can any help with a legal way around marriage.

Thanks,

Mattsmonkee

Re: What rights do BF and I have?

You may draw up a contract that describes your rights and obligations to each other. (A Marvin agreement) You can also prepare wills. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
