Rights on relocating minor child

My best friend has a 12 year old son and shares custody with her sons father. She has full physical custody and he has visition rights. She wants to relocate to Alabama, however her paperwork states that her sons father has to give permission for her to relocate out of Calif.He is not giving her the permission. She is handicapped and not sure what her rights are and how to get the court to change the paperwork. Can you help her

She needs to file a motion to modify the court order to allow her to move out of the state. This is a complex issue and she should talk to an attorney. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

If she cannot afford to retain an attorney the local court may have a clinic or there may be pro bono legal services available.
