Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am starting Divorce and have been married for 37years, to a Narcissistic, Verbally/Emotionally Abusive Man. He will retire in about 2 years. I have been disabled for 3 years and receive $980/ monthly from S.S.D. he makes about $100,000 yearly. Can I receive both Spousal support and 1/2 of his retirement benefits? He says his Retirement Benefits will be all I need and can not get Spousal Support. Is this true? Because of his abuse for 37 years I have P.T.S.D., Severe Depression, Anxiety , and am on Medications. I also see an Abuse Councelor. I need to continue Counceling and Spousal Support will help pay for this. I also will have to find Health Insurance, Vehicle Insurance, Car Payments, House Payment, Etc. Will need Spousal Support to make ends meet. I appreciate any advice you may have. Thank-You, Carol

The court applies a variety of factors to determine spousal support. His theory has nothing to do with it. To help you feel more confident, I recommend that you read the material contained in the following link: http://www.courts.ca.gov/1038.htm
