Legal Question in Family Law in California

Temporary Custody

My spouse has moved out, taking our son. Before I decide on how to move forward, what are my options as far as temporary custody. I'm sure I can barge in to see my son, but I'd like to avoid from that happening, but see him legally. What can be done and how soon? And how soon would this result in a court order for visitation? What type of visitation would be allowed?
