Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex wife filed the divorce papers, I got served and signed them and sent them back certified to the orange county CA courts in 2010 I heard that divorces with children sometimes take a long time but when I checked today (I want to get re-married) the case has been dismissed. Do I need to get that case re-opened or file new divorce papers?

If the case was dismissed, you need to file a new divorce action.

You will need to file your own petition and summons and serve them. You are not divorced if the case was dismissed before a judgment was entered. For further information, visit http://www.ellifritzlaw.com

If you want to get divorced you are going to have to file. If you are going to insist on doing it yourself, you may want to go the public library and read a copy of Nolo Press' book on doing your own divorce in California.
