Legal Question in Family Law in California

What exactly did I do wrong? Default? I dont get it!

August 2001, I was served from my husband for dissolution of marriage, OSC for custody, visitation and support. Sept 26, 01, I attended the court date. In front of judge, he granted divorce, we agreed on jont custody, husband being the custodial parent and every other weekend visitation for me.

Child support was NOT ordered and re-evaluation for support in 6 months. April 22, 02 Notice of Aknowlegement and proof of service was filed. I never recieved anything. June 24, 2002, ex husband tells me that his lawyer forgot to file the paperwork and he didnt know where things stood. He said he would get back to me on what was going on. July 14, 02 ex husband files again a petition of dissolution of marriage and files for sole physical custody and one day a month visitation for me. Still I do not know anything. Oct 10, 02 ex husband shows for court and I dont (dont know about it) they find me in default and I have now lost my joint custody and my every other weekend visitation. I only have one day a month visitaion supervised. What happened? I am lost....I cannot afford an attorney....however he can. Please Help Me.

You need to go to the courthouse, have your dissolution file pulled, purchase a copy of every document and piece of paper in the file, and take it to a qualified family law lawyer, immediately. If you can not afford a lawyer or locate a paralegal assistant that is attorney supervised, then go to the Family Law Facilitators Office in the courthouse.

Good luck to you!
