my fathers doctor has completed the F.M.L.A. forms. He advised that my dad is unable to care for himself and that I am needed to help in his care as needed example; fix his meals , make sure he eats and dispence his meds. among many other things. My father lives with my wife and I .I am an only child. my wife trys to take care of my dad as much as possible ,but do to severe arthritis it is some times not possible. He fell sunday and shattered his shoukder. My employer is demanding verification. Which I am able to supply. My problem is that they are also demanding verification when I am staying home to care for him. Is this legal. I have no way of verifing that I at home with my dad, other than my word. Which is not exceptable

Re: intermittent leave

All you need to provide is the medical certification, completed by your father's doctor, that your assistance is needed to provide care for your father. Beyond that, your word that you are, in fact, caring for your dad is all you have to give to your employer. If they are still not satisfied, tell them to check with their legal counsel.
