Legal Question in Federal Tort Claims in California

slander

My boss fired me stating that several employees said that I was mad at him and I was going to rip him off. My sister was his housekeeper and she was fired too, because she had his house key and I might take it. I've worked for him for 5 years and none of it is true!! Do I have A slander case? How long do I have to file?

Re: slander

If you were an "at Will" employee, it is unlikely that you have a cause of action for improper firing. It is also unlikely that your former employer's explanation to you for why you were let go, would constitute "publication" of slander.

Please note, "publication" is a required element of a cause of action for the kind of case that you are considering.

Good luck,
