Legal Question in Federal Tort Claims in California

Where to start...

Greetings. I am looking for a starting point for my abuse

case from

1984-ish in California. I currently live in Oregon. I

would like to pursue

criminal, as well as, civil charges. However, I do not

have a particularly

large amount of discretionay income to pay an attorney.

Any advice or

assistance that you may be able to provide would be

greatly appreciated.

Thank you, in advance.

Re: Where to start...

I would start by going to the public library and reading up on the Act itself, then calling various legal services organizations to see if you can get assistance that way. I would not try to do it on the cheap by hiring a lawyer who doesn't know how to handle these kinds of cases or do it yourself. Call the bar of California, and ask for a referral in your area. At least the initial discussion should be free.
