Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

acused of damanging proprty

I am a manager at a Large delivery corp. I have to ride with my couriers from time to time. We were at a pick up when the owner of a small co. came out of his office and said that I was not allowed on his property. He said that last time I was on property cars were scrached and a windshild was broken. I said if you think I did this why dont you call the police ''because i dont have proof. His statment accusing me of damaging cars is slander? It was with one of my employees and I think it damaged my professonal life. Do I have a case?

Re: acused of damanging proprty

How damaging was it to your professional life? Did the courier with you believe it, tell others about it and did they all make fun of you and not give you any more work? How much money will you lose in the future because of the stupid comment? These are some ways to evaluate your case. Also, you should step back and look at the potential case from the vantage point of twelve strangers on a jury who would rather not be sitting in a courtroom. How do you think they would vote and how much, if anything, do you think they would award you?
