Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Assult at a public library- who is responsible?

I was assaulted at a public library by a transient. The person was taken into custody, a police report completed, and I did press charges. Who is responsible for my injuries- a broken hand and facial wounds received while defending myself? The person got into a verbal argument with someone else in the library about 5 minutes prior to attacking me. Is there a case here?

when the transient assaulted someone else prior to your attack, what did the library staff do about the transient before he assaulted you? this will determnine if you have a case or not. if you can email more specific facts, i may be able to further assist you legally.

The answer to your question is YES. There was certainly enough notice for the library staff to act and apparently they did not. Call your lawyer to start your claim. If you do not have a lawyer, I'll be glad to represent you. My number is (323)782-0099.
