Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I bought a used car AS IS for about $8,000.00 from a dealership almost 4 months ago. The car is having different major issues. Based on a couple of estimates that I have received, it cost me about $6,000.00 to do all the repairs.

Does the law of lemon apply to this case and can I ask the dealer to pay for the repairs or replace the car?

Apparently you didn't understand what 'as is' meant. You could have investigated, had the car checked out, etc, before you bought and signed that. Any sale 'as is' means you have NO RECOURSE, no right to complain about your problems, unless you can actually prove through credible legally admissible evidence that there was actual fraudulent withholding of known defect information by the seller that you could not have discovered upon reasonable inspection. Not likely to happen for you unless the seller confesses and admits to such 'fraud'.

You can try to negotiate something with the seller for 'customer satisfaction' reasons. Good luck.
