Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Does Cal. Code Civil Procedure 1013(a) apply to extend the time for filing a petition for writ of mandate in the appellate division in California? We served our adversary by mail a notice of an order denying their motion to dismiss for forum non conveniens. I'm wondering if the 5 day extension rule for service my mail applies to extend the time for filing a petition for writ of mandate from 10 days to 15 days after notice of the order denying the motion to dismiss.
