We were in a car accident in 2010 and we didn't have health insurance. To get medical attention we went to a low income clinic who charged us $30 for consultation. In 2011 we settled our case without going to court and when it came down to paying our bills this clinic raised the price to $110. My question is is it legal to raise fees or to charge us more just because this was a legal case?

You have to look at what the terms of your contract say. Clinics that charge a lower amount often try to recoup their costs when a person's insurance or insurance settlement covers the payments, but they have to tell you in person or in their contract with you that that is the case.
