Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Defamation of Character

How can I find out if I have restraining orders against me? My ex husband said I have 2-3 in CA and one in Utah. He posted this on the internet. He put a very exhaustive post on me and it has been viewed over 1400 times since it was posted in Feb 02. I believe it hindered me getting employment. It is ruining my hard earned reputation. WHen I am Googled it pops up on the first page.

If he's in California, and the information is untrue, get a lawyer and sue. Watch out for legal time limits!

You can hire a private investigator to check the court records, both in CA and UT. Also, if you have a friend in CA who can go to a courthouse, he/she can check the computerized docket by punching in your name and gathering information. I agree with Mr. Stone that such posts -- if untrue -- are defamatory and are actionable.
