disabeled person abuse

my aunt is permanently disabled and her finanaces are being misused. her family has taken several loans out in her name and sold her home without her permission. the convalescent hospital won't let her go home. she has bills piling up that she knows nothing about.

You can also contact the local Police Department. It also sounds like elder abuse as theft by trick and device. I assume that your elder relative is bordering on b eing not competent. That will require someone to act in a "fiduciary" or trust and confidence position. You can petition the Court. If appointed you can then bring action(s) against those that have wronged your relative.

You might petition the court to appoint a conservator. Perhaps repost your message for a lawyer who specializes in probate and/or estate planning.

You could call the Department of Social Services, and they could appoint a State Conservator if you do not want to become conservator. But rest assured, the State will take any money she has left.
