Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Hello. Yes earlier today I walked into "a hobby store " to return 4 needle art kits. I had no receipts so they said they'd give store credit on a merchandise card. For clearance price. I agreed. Y Before I get home a couple hours later I missed a couple phone calls from hobby place. Now come to find out they have posted my picture ( which can only be. From my CA. Id. Which I provided with my phone number. ) with all my info saying wanted for stealing. Now I went in to store and straight to registers.today. Last time I personally have been in store was more than 1 1/2 years. Ago. I knowing I haven't stole anything believe they have wrongfully displayed me and my info . Or am I wrong and can they do this at will? And be legally right.
