Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My ex fiance won't come pick up his furniture from my house.

My ex owes me money because I paid his child support for one month. I was holding his furniture until he paid me back the money. He finally agreed to pay it so I let him pick up his furniture. He still has a nice bedroom set at my place and a washer and dryer. He has not paid me back any money or shown any interest in the furniture. It has been 4 months since he moved out. I am moving in 2 weeks. If I move his furniture into my new place I don't want to go through him calling up out of the blue wanting it back. Also, the furniture is rather large for my new place and I don't know what to do with it. Can the furniture be declared mine after a certain amount of time??? He also tried to take me to court to get me to pay $2,000 for his furniture which I did not want. He dropped the case. I have sent him registered letters regarding this matter and I get no response. Don't know what to do.

The best that you can do is send one more registered letter to him advising him that he has 5 days to pick up the furniture or you will consider him to have abandoned it. Once it is abandoned, you can do with it what you wish. Also, keep a record of his past suit that he dropped.
