Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Livestock Lien 3080

In reference to my stolen horse and foal, the person that has taken her has placed a livestock lien california civil code: 3080 on her and foal.

Shouldn't he need to provide a declaration of the amount of lien and as I read it, I could pay off the lien and recover my stolen property and then pursue in court for rocevry of funds??

Re: Livestock Lien 3080

If you do you should pay the claim under written protest. However, if, as you say, the animals are stolen, why haven't you turned this over to the police? This individual, at the least, is a possessor of stolen livestock, so the animals should be impounded by the authorities.
