Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

lost paperwork

My wife went to the Staples Copy center and gave them my military medical record to copy. The lost 6 of the originial papers all with my social security number, birthday and name on them. My wife then got a piece of paper from an employee that stated just that. We also have an incident report. I want to know if i have a lawsuit and if so what kind of attorney do i need?

Re: lost paperwork

You should notify the social security administration and anyone else whose account was on the papers. You should also put a lock on your credit reports -- that it won't permit inquiries without your approval. Finally, Staples should give you at least a year's worth of free credit reports to check them for peace of mind. Without actual harm, you probably wouldn't benefit from a lawsuit.
