Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

When I moved from San Diego CA to Melbourne FL the movers failed to deliver about $50,000 of our property that we (and 4 other people) watched them load on the truck. we paid for the boxes they packed the property in, yet they deny they ever had it. The police couldnt take the report becasue they said it was a civil matter. Do Civil attorneys take a case like this on contingency? The moving company violated numerous PUC laws as well

Probably not. Don't believe the police when they give legal advice either. It could be criminal or civil depending on what you are alleging.
