Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

prerequisites for teaching credenial program

I wish to receive a refund on college classes which I took as prerequisites for entry into a teaching credential program. These prerequisite classes are not transferable to another college. After I took 4 prerequisite classes, a select number of people decided I could not enter the program due to a 5 minute oral interview, even though I had completed all of the prerequisites.

Re: prerequisites for teaching credenial program

Not answering your question, but some advice: Friends have told me that some online courses just have the bare necessities to obtain a teaching credential. Some public on-ground schools make you take a lot of other courses that will delay exiting the credential program. You might want to look into online, although those courses are more intense and could be more costly.

Now, to answer your question, there should be some kind of appellate process. It makes no sense to deny you entry into the program unless you have a very unusual background that somehow makes you unsuitable to be a teacher -- something school districts desperately need. Have you talked to the dean or even higher up?
