Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Private car sale

I sold my vehicle to private party and had her sign contract ''as is with no implied or expressed warranties.'' Three weeks later, she called to say car has engine problems and I defrauded her b/c I knew about the problem, which is a lie, and she will sue if I don't pay for it. Does she have standing in court with the contract she signed?

Re: Private car sale

As is is supposed to prevent such claims and suits, and you can defend by showing the document to the small claims judge. There is no guarantee it will prevent her from recovering, but it should work. Make sure you emphasize that you knew nothing about the problem beforehand.
