Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

RE: PRO SE with MULTIPLE PLAINTIFFS:

I am one of four plaintiffs in an unlimited civil case. During the past six months, our attorney has shown himself to be completely and utterly incompetent. We cannot afford to pay a new attorney, but if we continue with our current attorney, the action will fail. Our best option seems to be self representation. We are thinking about filing:

- 4x MC-050 Forms to substitute attorney, one for each plaintiff, to represent ourselves.

- If any court documents need to be filed in future (e.g. something on pleading paper) then all four plaintiffs will sign and date all documents together.

Would proceeding in this way be acceptable to the court?

Thank-you

Yes, that's acceptable. However, you'll all be held to the same standards as are attorneys, in general. There are attorneys who might be willing to work on a piecemeal basis. In addition, you might wish to seek a refund of unearned fees paid to your current attorney.
