Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

problem with a business

I purchased a car stereo from a local shop, and when I brought it back in due to mechanical failure I was told they had to send it to the manufacturer under warantee. I was told the process would take 2 weeks, but it has been over a month and the shop won't return my calls regarding my stereo. Is there a time limit before I can proceed with a civil suit?

Start a paper trail. Send a certified letter. Send a second certified letter. Then get an attorney to send a letter. Then talk about a lawsuit.

No, there is no time limit to initiate a lawsuit if the party at issue is not acting "reasonably" under the circumstances. You should have an attorney draft and send a legal demand letter to start the lawsuit process or give the shop at issue opportunity to settle out of court before filing.
