out of state court filing for a moving company

can I file a small claims court case in my current state of residence against a moving company based in another state of my previous residence? moving company resides in california, where my furniture was moved from and to my current residence in massachusettes. contract originated in california and was to be fulfilled in massachusettes.

If the moving company has filed to do business in Mass, you can sue them there. If not, CA is the place. You should look at the moving contract and see what if anything it says about claims.

Moving company cases are governed by Federal Law not state law. You will have to follow that procedure.
