Interesting question. There are more facts needed to respond appropriately to your inquiry. It seems the matter involves two states, NY and CA. If so, how? I am an attorney licensed in NY and CA, so I may be able to get you some direct information with either state's law if you provide more facts.

If the subpoena is properly served, the answer generally is "no". You might contact the subpoenaing attorney, however, and try to arrange for a different date or time if inconvenient.

Usually no, but under some circumstances there are valid challenges that can be made. I would need to know some details of the case and the information you might have before I could begin to assess your chances of defeating the subpoena.
