Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

If I am being sued for a car accident and I have no job or property and am living just on SSI, can the courts take away from my SSI? Or if I have no financial security (no job, property, etc.) and am being sued, what happens in the court?

Your Social Security Income cannot be seized to satisfy a debt, other than upaid taxes or child support.

If you had automobile insurance, though, your insurance carrier should be paying to defend you. If you have not notified your carrier that you are being sued, you need to do so immediately.
